By Frank Byronn Glenn -- Once in a while along the way -- if we are lucky -- something good and something that we can be proud of happens in a Presidential campaign year. Not often -- But once in a while. One time was the way then candidate Obama and then GOP candidate John McCain responded to the financial crisis in 2008. There was a lot of nit-picking and second-guessing -- and ultimately a little political second basing and posturing around the events -- but all in all it was one of those rare times when it feels like the country is at least all pulling together for the good of the nation.

T
oday felt the same way to me -- only maybe a little bit better. Both President Obama and Mr. Romney gave brief but heart-felt -- non-campaign -- speeches to the American people. They both said that this was no day for campaigns or politics. Subsequently, both candidates cancelled until further notice all campaign advertising in the state of Colorado. We are proud of both these men today -- and the heart-ache for us is that it took a national tragedy for the country to pause momentarily -- put partisan divisivesness aside -- and mourn with the families of the victim -- and the shooter -- and the citizens of Colorado and the nation.

Nevertheless -- it is still one of those moments in America that we can all take a moment -- and be very proud of our political leaders for their willingness to pause -- and just be Americans -- with the rest of us. A good day for America for sure!
