By Frank Byronn Glenn -- The Romney campaign rolled out the political time machine (or shall we call it the parallel universe machine) --
and alleged this week that the statements by Romney that he had "nothing to do" with Bain Capital after 1996, despite official SEC records and other official government documents revealing that the GOP Presidential contender was the sole shareholder, Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of Bain Capital and signing documents and making decisions for the company well into the new millenium -- and certainly as late as 2001 or 2002.
The Romney campaign frenetically, dramatically, and glibly explained away the potential felony act of SEC fraud by dismissively
explaining that Mr. Romney had, of course, simply resigned in 2002 or 2003, but had done so retro-active to 1999, thereby making his original seeming erroneous (and perhaps fraudulent) remarks made regarding his non-involvement in 1996 -- retroactively true by virtue of the explanation that the bankrupting of companies and out-sourcing of workers that had happened while he was single-handedly in charge -- were nullified retroactively by virtue of Mitt Romney having retroactively resigned sometime in 2002 or 2003. Got that? Clear as mud, right?
These guys not only have word-smiths on their staffs -- they must have quantum physicists rearrangers and nano-reality technologists and sooth-sayers,
such that facts that happened in the past can be rendered baseless and non-attributable to MItt Romney, who was in charge at the time, by virtue of Mitt Romney and his team simply deciding that it would be beneficial if those deleterious facts were rendered "non-present-moment-attributable" to the man who did it -- by simply saying he was not operating in the capacity he was operating in at the time he was operating in it. Or if he was, he hereby by neutralized the fact by declaring that he retroactively was not in charge of what he was actually in charge of -- despite the facts as revealed in the official documents. Man! That was a mouthful.
Can't you just imagine what these guys would do in the office of President in which they had the full power of the U.S. government, the 24/7 non-stop echo chamber of the Foxx
and other right wing lie and propaganda machine explaining away the facts and creating new ones -- as well as the money to do whatever they wanted with the full faith and credit of the United States credit card all day every day -- while denying that any of it was happening.
The dangerous thing is that I think that is actually the way Mitt Romney not only thinks it works in Washington -- but the way he thinks it should work -- and he can hardly contain himself as he licks his lips and rubs his hands in anticipation of all the money he and his buddies could make -- with the United States government as their new Bain Capital money, truth, and fact manufacturing machine -- completely above reproach, investigation, endictment, arrest, trial , conviction and sentencing. If you were a mega-millionaire who saw almost within his grasp the opportunity to become a cinch multi-billiionaire -- or possibly (think big, Mitt) even the worlds first bonafide -- trillionaire! He must want that job really bad.
