By Frank Byronn Glenn -- When Bush and Cheney were President and Vice-President -- or as my friends refer to it -- when the Evil Empire ruled the world--
and the Republicans controlled the House and Senate, form 2001 to 2006, they reduced the Congressional work week to a day and a half -- sometimes two days. When asked to explain it -- one word-smithing policy wonk had the answer right away. Republican are just more efficient than the Democrats. And I guess, upon reflection -- I agree. Republicans discovered a less-time consuming way to do nothing -- and simply implemented it straight away -- after the politically necessary and mandated several months of study, analysis, partisan bickering -- and debate.
Besides -- when you reduce your work week from five days to two -- and keep your compensation the same -- that's a 250% increase in pay per year -- without even having to have an embarrassing and self-serving vote on the floors of Congress -- exposing yourself to the raised eye-brow, wide-eyed outrage and indignation of presumptuous voters all across America. Or as Republican Congressional leaders refer to it -- a win- win!
