By Frank Byronn Glenn – I don’t know where the Republicans keep coming up with these people, but Ted Cruz represents just another diarrhea of the mouth guy from (you guessed it!) — Texas. We don’t know if these cretins are missing necessary vitamins or minerals in their diets — or if all oil drilling and refining have poisoned the water, food, and air - or if these otherwise semi-normal appearing people have a not-visible and not easily detected genetic flaw that prevents them from stringing two or more sequential thoughts together and prevents them from learning from experience or observation……………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
A more likely scenario, regrettably, is that since the money to make their careers po0ssible comes from wealthy, autocratic, predatory, crony capitalists — their survival instincts are well-enough to realize that when they don’t understand the issues and proposed legislation – and the ramifications of said bills — they simply run out in front of a camera and espouse the likes and dislikes of the rich people and corporations that fund their unlikeliest of political careers.

Fighting For Democracy Requires Constant Vigilance and Tireless Education About the Facts Of Modern American Life!
By Robert Sexton — 1. Unions. They say unions of all kinds are taking advantage of the rest of us Americans. Not true. Unions are the only way families in America have a fighting chance to have a living wage. Left to corporations alone, we’d all be working for peanuts, with no healthcare, no vacations, no college for our kids, and no retirement with dignity after our working days are done. . . 2. Regulations. They say we need less regulation in America and everything will just be terrific for everyone. Not true. Business had as little regulation in the 90′s and 2000′s as they have had since the 1920′s (the repeal of Glass-Steagall being the main one), and all that happened was that we had another 1920′s style crash. Predictably. I remember when the repeal was passed and signed by Bill Clinton. I thought at the time — “Here we go again!” . . 3. Taxes. they said if we cut taxes, there would be a boom in jobs. Bush and the Republican Congress cut taxes, and — guess what — there was no jobs boom! The rich got fabulously richer, and none trickled down to the rest of us, to speak of. They used the extra money to buy politicians, corrupt the political process in their favor, to pass more favorable tax laws so they could further concentrate their wealth and further control the reins of government to their benefit. . . 4. Voter ID Laws. They pass laws that restrict voters rights and the ability to vote because they say we are plagued with massive voter fraud. I think there have been 87 convictions for voter fraud in the last ten years. We probably have more Republicans who have put a picture of themselves having sex with farm animals on Facebook than that. In any event, not exactly an epidemic. No. The real reason they do it is to reduce the voter turn-out among students, young, blacks, Hispanics, disabled and elderly — many of which traditionally vote democratic – when they vote – because they know if they just try to fun on Republican ideas and policies they wouldn’t have a snow-ball’s chance in hell of getting elected. The only way they have a chance is to steal elections and suppress the democratic vote any way they can. . . 5. Bankruptcy Reform. They passed laws restricting Bankruptcy rights, alleging massive citizen abuse of the bankruptcy laws, when in fact their hadn’t been much change in the number of bankruptcies filed and the total amount of dollars of debt discharged through bankruptcy in the preceding 20 years. And in the process, they slipped a little exception into the Bankruptcy reform law, stating that anyone who had more than $3 million dollars of debt could still use the old, more lenient bankruptcy rules. This exception, of course, applied primarily to themselves and their rich benefactor friends, but not to struggling middle-class Americans, most of which do not have the wherewithal to accumulate $3 million plus in debts. So — bankruptcy reform for the rest of us, but not for themselves and their friends. So obviously self-serving! . . 6. Tort Reform. They said we needed tort reform because every day people were just hiring attorneys in massive numbers and suing innocent businesses for huge sums of money fraudulently. In fact, the number of lawsuits and the total number of dollars awarded in civil lawsuits had hardly budged in 20 years. The real reason they did this was that they wanted to reduce the amount of money earned by trial lawyers, big supporters of the Democratic party over the years. . . The Reality. It’s all about power – and winning. The demographic that votes Republic is dwindling. The demographic that votes Democratic is growing. Republican ideas and policies benefit primarily the top 1% – hardly enough to win elections. Minorities negatively effected by Republican policies are growing as a percentage of the voting electorate So you see — Republicans are in a tight spot. That’s why they are in a panic to corrupt democracy forever in America. Because if they don’t, it won’t be long before you couldn’t get a Republican elected on a bet! I mean, why would anyone but a fabulously rich (and very selfish and un-American) person vote consistently for a Republican and for Republican ideas and policies.
